Celotex on Lady Lane Industrial Estate has been in Hadleigh for 37 years and was taken over by French company Saint-Gobain three years ago.
It employs 215 people, having taken on 60 more members of staff in the last year.
The company runs its own apprenticeship scheme enabling young people to train to be engineers in this specialist field of building construction. It is also starting a graduate development programme offering five placements to attract people into the industry,
South Suffolk MP James Cartlidge, who visited the company recently, said this was good news for the local economy and the company’s workforce.
“Celotex is a market leader in the important field of insulation for the construction industry and we should be proud to have such an excellent manufacturing business located in Hadleigh,” he said.
“I am delighted that the parent company is clearly committed to the Hadeligh site and is very positive about the future there.
“In many ways the biggest problem the company has is one of success - they want to recruit but find it hard to get staff with the right skills.
“I think the staff and all those with an interest in the future of the plant should be heartened to hear the firm’s plans are so positive. They want to invest in talent and invest in the future, and that must be good news for young people in the area.
“At the end of the day this is a profitable site for a brand that is the market leader in its sector and the parent company are going to be investing in it and creating more jobs as they have been doing. We should wish Celotex the best of success as a key player in the South Suffolk economy.”
Managing director, Craig Chambers, said: “This is Celotex’ 90th anniversary year, and 37 years since we first established a production site in Hadleigh.
“We are fully committed to investment across all areas of the business and in particular to the training and development of our staff at all levels and we are especially proud of our involvement in the graduate and engineering training schemes which will provide young men and women with the skills they will need to help move the business forward.”
