James Cartlidge MP was appointed as the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Ministry of Justice on Friday 17th September. He had previously served as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Speaking after his promotion, Mr Cartlidge said:
"The Prime Minister called me on Friday to offer me the position of Justice Minister and I was honoured to accept. My Ministerial portfolio is likely to include the court system and, in particular, its recovery from Covid backlogs. These are matters that have a great bearing on the daily lives of many people and I look forward to getting stuck into the brief.
"Of course, I will also continue my various campaigns for key improvements in South Suffolk in my role as the local Member of Parliament, such as supporting the Sudbury ‘Levelling Up’ bid and pushing the case for investment at Copdock Interchange."
