On Thursday 10th October, James Cartlidge MP joined campaigners and activists on Market Hill in Sudbury to talk about mental health and provide his support for the excellent organisations in the town.
James Cartlidge MP said:
“We have made a lot of progress on supporting the NHS in our area e.g. significant extra funding for West Suffolk, Colchester and Ipswich hospitals. However, there is still a lot more to do in the area of mental health, not least with the problems faced by our county’s mental health trust, Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. I have emphasised to senior figures at the Trust that they should meet with the brilliant charitable mental health organisations in my constituency, such as the Kernos Centre, to see how they can work together to provide improved provision in our area.
“I am pleased that we were able to raise awareness of the issues around mental health, and would like to thank the local organisations for their continued work in our area”.

“We are here to raise awareness of mental health and the local services available to people.”
“It is an ever increasing need to try to fill the gaps in statutory provision. We work with both children and adults who are unable to receive help on the NHS, and yet do not have the finances to fund private therapy. We provide weekly face to face counselling sessions to those in need.
At Kernos we are supporting individuals to be mentally stronger and healthier. Kernos enables individuals to work with their problems to achieve sustainable health and wellbeing, with raised self-esteem and confidence.”
