The repair work on the road, which started at the end of last year, was originally due to have been completed by the end of March.
It was then announced that the work would not be completed until the end of May – partly because of “bad winter weather”, despite it being one of the mildest winters of recent years.
The work has now been delayed again – it will not now be completed until the end of June – and the 40mph speed limit will remain in place until well into next month.
Now Mr Cartlidge is planning to outline his concerns in person to Highways England engineers – and to outline to them the concerns felt by his constituents and motorists in general who use the road.
One angry motorist is Julie Downton from East Bergholt, who drives to Ipswich every day. She said: “I am speaking for numerous people regarding the A12 roadworks – it has been horrendous.
“No way should we have to put up with this. Coming out of the East Bergholt slip-road is dangerous as no one will pull over into the outside lane, when it is clear for motorists to do so.
“You can see people just fixated on driving at 40 miles an hour and staying in the lane and not moving over.
“We are all fed up with the A12 roadworks.”
