Suffolk Members of Parliament made the case for fairer funding for the county’s police service, during a recent meeting with the Government’s police minister.
Four MPs met Nick Hurd to discuss police resources, amid growing concerns about crime related to county lines.
James Cartlidge, MP for South Suffolk, said: "At time of growing anxiety about crime in South Suffolk, particularly linked to ‘county lines’, this was a welcome opportunity to meet the Police Minister and put the case for more resource finding its way to Suffolk’s front line.
"I was encouraged when Nick Hurd emphasised that the comprehensive spending review will look at the issue of fairness, given Suffolk’s low spending per head on police compared to other counties.
"We must continue to press the case but also ensure that if more spending is forthcoming, our constabulary and PCC have plans to ensure it will deliver better outcomes, particularly in terms of detection rates."
