James Cartlidge MP on a recent visit to GCB Cocoa in Glemsford.
James Cartlidge MP recently visited the GCB Cocoa site in Glemsford to see their new chocolate factory and to hear more about their progress, having first visited in October 2020 with the South Suffolk Taskforce after GCB took over the site from Philips Avent. GCB’s representatives confirmed at the visit that they are hoping to be operating in Q2 this year, making liquid and solid Chocolate in Glemsford.
James Cartlidge MP says: “It was a pleasure to visit GCB Cocoa earlier this month and I was delighted to hear that they are on track to be operating from April this year, making liquid and solid chocolate in Glemsford. It’s fantastic news that one of the world’s leading cocoa companies will be producing high quality chocolate in the heart of our rural district to service household name suppliers across the UK. In these challenging economic times it’s vital that we remember the many economic positive stories that are happening, and GCB’s inward investment into South Suffolk already represented a very significant vote of confidence in our economy – but now it’s going to become tangible, with a finished product to be proud of. I look forward to working further with the company as they drive forward on their path to production, and then ongoing growth”.
GCB also confirmed that Phase 2 of the site plan is expected to be operational mid-2024.
GCB says:
We were delighted to host James around our Factory and share with him our progress and plans going forward. GCB is actively recruiting in the local area and welcome any recruitment enquiries to : ukrecruitment@euk.favorich.com
